The Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office is recognized in Oklahoma and the United States as a leader in ad valorem tax policy and implementing leading edge technology to provide open records access to those documents over the Internet.

The Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office has provided the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) presentations to national meetings about how the technology used in Oklahoma County can be implemented to streamline operations, reduce costs and provide better service for customers. The Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office is also recognized as an expert in communications with the media and providing information to explain the complicated process of assessing property.

The technology at the Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office provides access to important public records 24 hours a day and 7 days a week over the internet. In 2003 more than 7 million visitors were logged to the Oklahoma County Assessor’s webpage.

The Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office has worked with county officers from across Oklahoma to support reforms and property tax relief for all citizens, particularly senior citizens. From leading the effort to eliminate the Household Personal Property tax, reforming the property tax on homes and business to helping pass proposals to change the state constitution to help more senior citizens become eligible for the freeze on assessments which can help reduce property tax increases, the Oklahoma County Assessor’s Office has been part of a county government movement to write and pass legislation to ease the property tax burden on citizens while still providing the necessary funds to adequately fund public schools and other essential county services.
